Phoenix Rising Charity Art Show

Human Trafficking is defined as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons by improper means (such as force, abduction, fraud, or coercion) for an improper purpose including forced labor or sexual exploitation. Globally it is a $150 billion illegal industry with 75% of victims being women and girls. End Human Trafficking Now was founded in 2012 to advance awareness, drive individual action and help communities put an end to human trafficking and modern slavery. With January being National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, it is the perfect time of year to raise community awareness of this issue and art is the perfect medium. The mission of our Phoenix Rising art exhibit is to create an environment that fosters community dialogue about the current reality of Human Trafficking & Modern Slavery and how we can put an end to it, emotes the struggle a victim endures, and provides a platform for raising funds and supplies for local non-profits fighting to end this violation of human rights. Funds raised via art purchases and/ or donations and supplies collected will support Wellspring Living, Out of Darkness, and End Human Trafficking Now (mission statements below).

  • Wellspring Living: Transforming lives of those at risk or victimized by sexual exploitation
  • Out of Darkness: To Reach, Rescue, and Restore all victims of commercial sexual exploitation
  • End Human Trafficking Now: To advance issue awareness, drive individual action and help communities put an end to human trafficking and modern slavery

Sankofa-fa Group Exhibition

Sankofa is a word in the Twi Language of Ghana translates to "Go back and get it" and also refers to the AsanteAdinkra symbol. Sankofa is often associated with the proverb, “Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi," which translates as: "It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten."

The theme of this event aligns perfectly with the shift our community is experiencing in this Socio-political climate. The artists and creatives participating each have stories about going back and claiming their space in the world and the business professionals involved in this project have also done the work to remember what they left behind. We are all retracing our steps, reclaiming our strength and gifts to be the citizens this world needs to get on track. “Claim it”.

The event will be held at 5380 Studios and will feature a group of dynamic local artists and established community partnerships.

Nu Africans Fundraiser

By Invitation Only!

Hosted by Lines Gallery and Crimson Consulting Group

The Nu African addresses the notion that Africans of the diaspora through their particular set of circumstances have evolved into their own tribe.I call this tribe the “Nu Africans”. Inspired by the legendary warriors & queens from the African continent, each model was styled & photographed as a warrior & as a queen. Though the inspiration takes its roots from the continent, these women, are from this time, this place, & the future. A fundraiser for the publication of "The Nu Africans” PROJECT

Maurice Evans and Grace Kisa collaborate for a phenomenal exhibit.
